Before joining the SFHSP, I wondered if I had what it takes. Once I did, I realized every artist’s work is unique, and my art could make a difference. Being a top recipient of the SFHSP allows me to pursue my passion for Mechatronics Engineering at the University of Waterloo without financial stress. Participating in the SFHSP was liberating. It gave me space to speak about real issues creatively and experience processes I might have missed. Receiving my bursary was a great relief! It reduced what I owe and eased my stress.

Taking part in the SFHSP was one of my last fondest memories in my High School career, and probably one of my proudest. I was beyond grateful that I was one of the individuals selected for this bursary, and even more grateful that I got to share this joyous experience with my friends.

ABEEL’s commitment to the long-term growth and success of students has been truly transformative for me. Since my first introduction to the organization, ABEEL has provided consistent mentorship, guidance, and access to opportunities that have played a major role in shaping my academic and professional path. Through their support, I have had the privilege to work with industry leaders such as KPMG and EllisDon, and to win the Business Pitch Competition, which provided funding for my startup and valuable connections with senior executives.

Through ABEEL’s support and mentorship, I have had opportunities I never expected. One of the biggest ones was getting an internship at EllisDon, which will help me build my career in construction. ABEEL has also introduced me to groups like Women by Women and it has shown me how much strength there is in community and in people who genuinely want to see each other grow.

Hearing from seasoned professionals’ experiences in their fields guided me into choosing a career right for me. Now studying Electrical Engineering at Toronto Metropolitan University.

The small group mentorship was a wonderful privilege. Getting answers to questions about your prospective career is such a valuable tool that I’m so glad I got to experience. Everyone was so helpful, and it was clear that the main goal was to help me feel more secure in my choice of career. Having other students in the mentorship and seeing that I’m not alone in my doubts and questions was a huge help and helped ease some of my anxieties. All in all I’m so thankful I got to experience this wonderful program, and I hope it continues to help others like it has helped me.

I joined the mentor sessions back in 2023. In these calls I got the opportunity to speak with industry professionals from Cassels and KPMG. Although I am not interested in pursuing a career in these fields, I got a lot of wisdom from these people. They spoke about industry-specific things but also spoke about transferable skills and gave advice that was helpful in my life. All in all, there were a lot of great things to get from these meetings.
